– Corn is the number one commodity in the county.

about 233,000 acres with an annual value of $167.3 million. The
DeKalb County Corn & Soybean Growers Association is a collective
voice for local grain farmers.
Dairy
– There are about 1,020 dairy cows in the county which generate
20.4
million pounds of milk annually. Dairy
production contributes $3.5 million to the local economy.
The Kishwaukee Dairy Herd Improvement Association is comprised of
dairy producers in both DeKalb and Kane counties.
Pork
–
DeKalb
County
produces more hogs than any other county in
Illinois
marketing 420,000 pigs annually. Pork
production generates $38.6 million locally.
The DeKalb Area Pork Producers Association represents pork
producers in DeKalb and Kane counties.
Sheep –
Farmers raise about 1,500 sheep in
DeKalb
County. Sheep production is valued
at $300,000 annually. The
DeKalb County Lamb & Wool Producers is a membership organization of
sheep producers from DeKalb and surrounding counties.
Soybean
– Soybeans are produced on one-fourth of the farmland amounting to
95,000 acres. The annual
value of soybean production is $42.6 million.

represents local soybean producers.
