2010 National Legislative Positions
FOOD SECURITY AND FARM POLICY
- Support implementation of current Farm Bill work for producers in preparation
of the next Farm Bill debate.
FISCAL POLICY
- Support continuation of a balanced budget policy through revised spending
not tax increases.
- Oppose mandates on state and local government without adequate funding.
- Support a reduction in government spending through entitlement reform.
TAXES
- Seek a permanent estate tax adjusted for inflation and stepped up basis.
- Seek a reduction in the capital gains tax.
- Eliminate AMT.
- Extend the bio-diesel tax credit.
ENVIRONMENTAL
- Oppose Cap and Trade Legislation.
- Oppose EPA GHG regulations.
- Oppose the Clean Water Restoration Act/Chesapeake Bay Bill.
- Oppose EPA regulations that have negative impacts on the agricultural industry.
- Support Endangered Agencies Act reform providing landowner protection
and incentives.
TRADE
- Enact free trade agreements to improve market access for US products into
the world market.
- Support enforcement of the anti-trust laws and other anti-competitive legislation in
order to control monopolies and provide competitive markets for the
American Farmer.
- Support the Capper-Volstead anti-trust provisions for farm coops.
TRANSPORTATION
- Support new funding mechanisms and appropriations for funding of new 1,200 foot
locks on the Mississippi and Illinois River.
- Maintain agricultural exemptions through the reauthorization of the
Transportation Bill.
ENERGY
- Support the expansion of renewable fuels.
- Support a comprehensive energy policy.
- Support domestic use of federal petroleum reserves which include ANWAR and
the coastal shelf.
